This notice describes how AWLAD (the operator of awladlogistics.com, a sole proprietorship registered in Saskatchewan) collects, uses and discloses personal information. It is written to align with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the federal private-sector privacy statute that applies to our commercial activity in Saskatchewan, and with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner's published guidance.
Where a counterparty's home jurisdiction imposes stricter rules — the EU's GDPR, the UK's Data Protection Act, California's CPRA — we will accommodate those rights on written request. The text below describes the floor, not the ceiling.

What We Collect
From the quote-request form
The form on awladlogistics.com/#contact asks for the information necessary to scope a trade enquiry. When you submit it, we receive:
- Your name and company.
- Your email address and the country you are writing from.
- The commodity, volume, trade term and (optionally) discharge port you have in mind.
- Any specifications and notes you choose to add.
- Automatically: the IP address the request originated from and the timestamp of submission.
A hidden honeypot field is present to deter automated abuse; if a bot fills it, the submission is silently discarded and nothing is stored or emailed.
From your browser, automatically
- Server access logs kept by our Apache web server, in the standard combined log format. These include IP, request URL, response code, user-agent string and timestamp. They exist for security, error-diagnosis and capacity-planning purposes.
- One localStorage key, named
awlad-narration-flow, which remembers whether you switched the page's audio narration on or off. It stores the value"1"or"0"in your browser. It is not transmitted to us. Clearing your site data removes it.
What we do not collect
- No tracking cookies — first-party or third-party.
- No analytics service of any kind (no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Mixpanel, no server-side analytics either).
- No advertising pixels, social-network conversion tags or fingerprinting libraries.
- No payment information. AWLAD does not transact through the website.
Why We Collect It
- To respond to your quote request — to reply with origin availability, indicative pricing and a draft contract.
- To maintain a commercial audit trail of trade enquiries, in case a question arises about who asked for what, when.
- To diagnose technical problems with the website and to defend it against abuse.
- To meet our obligations under Canadian law — including the KYC, sanctions-screening and tax-record obligations that apply to a grain trading business (see our compliance notice).
We do not use your information for marketing without explicit, separately-given consent.
The Basis on Which We Rely
Submitting the quote-request form is the act of giving consent: you are asking us to receive your enquiry, reply to it, and keep a record of it. PIPEDA permits this kind of implicit consent for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances. You can withdraw that consent at any time — see Your Rights.
Limited categories of processing are carried out without consent where Canadian law expressly permits or requires it — for example, retaining records to comply with anti-money-laundering, tax or export-control statutes, or responding to a lawful production order.
Who Else Sees It
| Recipient | What they see · why |
|---|---|
| Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France) | The contents of the two transactional emails that follow a form submission: an internal notification to the AWLAD trading desk, and a confirmation back to you. Brevo is bound by its own contractual commitments under the GDPR. Cross-border transfers between Canada and France are covered by the EU's adequacy decision for Canada (PIPEDA-regulated organisations). |
| Our web host | Operates the server on which awladlogistics.com runs. Has access to server access logs and to the form-submission audit file in the ordinary course of providing the service. Bound by a service contract. |
| Counsel, accountants, banks | Where strictly necessary to give us legal, tax or banking advice — for example, to support a KYC review of a counterparty whose enquiry we have decided to accept. |
| Canadian authorities | Where compelled by valid Canadian legal process, or where we have an affirmative reporting obligation (FINTRAC, CBSA, CRA, RCMP). |
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not run it through profiling or automated decision-making systems.
Where It's Stored
The awladlogistics.com server and its audit-trail file (submissions.jsonl) sit on a host operated for us under a written service contract. Email delivered through Brevo is processed on Brevo's infrastructure (primarily in the European Union). Email arriving in or leaving the AWLAD trading desk inbox is stored on our mail provider's infrastructure.
In each case the contents may be processed in jurisdictions outside Canada. Where the destination has not been recognised as offering comparable protection, we rely on contractual safeguards permitted under PIPEDA.
How Long We Keep It
- Quote-request submissions (the form payload, plus the IP and timestamp the submission arrived with): retained for the longer of seven years from the date of submission or the duration of any contract that follows from the enquiry, in line with the commercial-record retention norms described in our compliance notice. Earlier deletion is available on request.
- Server access logs: rotated and retained for up to ninety days for security and diagnostic purposes, then deleted.
- Trading-desk email: retained as long as is reasonable for the conduct of the related trade and for the statutory periods that follow it.
- localStorage narration key: persists in your browser until you clear site data; we do not see it.
How We Protect It
- The site is served only over HTTPS, with HTTP redirected to HTTPS at the vhost level.
- The form-handler endpoint accepts only POST requests with a JSON payload and rejects everything else.
- Operational secrets (our Brevo API key, recipient list) live in a configuration file that is excluded from version control and explicitly denied access at the web server.
- The submissions audit file is also denied direct web access.
- Access to the server is limited to authorised administrators, authenticated by key.
No system is invulnerable. If a breach affects personal information under our control and creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and affected individuals in the manner PIPEDA's breach-reporting provisions require.
Your Rights
Under PIPEDA — and on similar terms under most comparable foreign laws — you may:
- Ask for access to the personal information about you that we hold. We will respond within thirty days, or sooner.
- Ask for correction of inaccurate information. If we decline, we will record your dissent on the file.
- Withdraw consent and ask for deletion of the information we hold about you — subject only to the narrow categories of record we are legally required to retain.
- Ask for portability — a copy of your data in a machine-readable form.
- Complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca if you believe we have mishandled your information.
To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@awladlogistics.com from the address on file, or attach a brief proof of identity. We do not charge for routine access requests.
Children
The website is a business-to-business resource for the international grain trade. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has submitted information through the form, please write to privacy@awladlogistics.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this Notice
We will update this notice when our practices change or when counsel review yields a revised text. Material changes are flagged in the colophon below. If you have submitted information through the form within the last twelve months and the change materially expands what we do with it, we will email you before the change takes effect.
